연구의 목적 및 내용
❍ The objective of this study is to investigate changes in perception and evaluate the effectiveness of Google for Education Products (hereinafter referred to as Google Solutions), which consists of Google Chromebooks(the hardware) and Google apps(the software), when they are used in middle school classes or learning processes.
❍ In the study, 13 teachers in charge of the first and second grades of S Middle School in Seoul and their first and second grade students voluntarily agreed to participate.. Starting in October 2021, Chromebooks were provided to all participating students at the school. Despite using Google apps frequently in their classes, the teachers did not have much experience with Chromebooks. Instructions on how to use Chromebooks were required for this reason. To address this issue, the teachers were provided with a training program which allowed them to receive technical assistance and training from Google experts throughout the entire study period regarding the designing of courses that utilize Google Solutions.
❍ As a result of this study, teachers gradually became more comfortable with technology and with Google Solutions, as well as designing lessons based on Google Solutions, and came to feel more comfortable with using Google apps. With the use of Google Solutions, the teachers saw an increase in time spent on planning and preparing for lessons as they had to adapt to and utilize new technology and a decrease in teacher-to-teacher conversations. In total, teachers were able to save one to five hours per week.
❍ The students responded positively to the impact of Google Solutions on their classes. Specifically, students were provided with more meaningful feedback on their work when using Google Solutions, and students perceived that they were actively participating in the class through Google Solutions. There were also a number of responses that said it was easy to experience different types of classes because the educational apps were readily available, and it became easy to monitor the learning process of individual students in real time, making individualized feedback possible.
